Preloved uniform sales!

Posted on

Our school has always sold off the unclaimed lost property at the end of the school year and then used the proceeds to buy playground equipment for the children. This was usually ran by one of the TA’s. But this academic year one of the ladies on my committee, Kate, offered to take it over and from there she has grown it into a very successful revenue of income.

It started with asking parents to donate any good quality school uniform, she then arranged it by size order and set prices per item and we had a Preloved Uniform stall at the School Open Day in June 2018. For the hour we were trading the Pre-Loved Uniform stall made £20. This was with very little advertising. There was a lot of stock left so Kate made a list of available items and posted it on the New Reception Parents Whatsapp group and sold many more items, taking orders and delivering in the school yard whilst on the school run.

From there we have ensured plenty of advertising in school newsletters, letting parents know what is available and prices, when sales will be on and where the money is spent. We have sold the Pre-Loved Uniform at the Autumn Fayre, done after school sales and had a stall at our Spring Disco. In between sales left over stock is advertised in all the class whatsapp groups by the class reps. Its been working really well, so well in fact that in the year we have been doing the Pre-Loved Uniform sales we have made more than £150, which is amazing considering items vary in price from £1-£2.50.

It’s a fantastic way to make extra money without any overheads, and when Parents can stock up on decent quality uniform for next to nothing and help the school buy extra play equipment for the children it’s a win win for everyone. You just need a super organised and hardworking member of your PTA to make it their own, you need a Kate.
