Last month I was named as one of f:Entrepreneur’s inaugural #ialso Top 100! The campaign celebrates the UK's inspirational and multi-achieveing female entrepreneurs 😀
On Tuesday all 100 entrepreneurs were invited to afternoon tea 🍰at the House of Lords hosted by Lord Young of Graffhama and the f:Entrepreneur Campaign.
I was part of the first #ialso Top 100, a campaign born from International Women’s Day 2018. During the event, the phrase used most by the gathered entrepreneurs was “I also…”, with each woman describing their work as being much more than a single-job career and more of a flexible portfolio.
I was featured for founding Stamptastic (an alternative to sewing and ironing labels into school uniform) along with my amazing business partner Emma Alleyne in 2011. I was also listed for my voluntary work as a former PTA Chairperson and Trustee of The Tony Loy Trust.
Despite what people make think of my outer confidence (it's all a facade!), I was actually really nervous beforehand as I didn't know what to expect and attending the House of Lords is definitely out of my comfort zone!
I decided to make a bit of an effort with my appearance as I can mostly be found in either my gym kit or pyjamas (those who follow our instagram stories will be able to testify to this!). I decided to wear my Marks and Sparks jumpsuit, the one of Insta fame last year. I also booked in for a blow dry which was almost scuppered because of the rain, but my lovely hairdresser popped out to buy me a brolly. How good is that? I felt like a celebrity ⭐️
I met lots of inspring women including Trusha from SpiceSanctuary and Debbi from StrengthCards. I loved talking to them and finding out about their multiple businesses and lives. It was wonderful to listen to Martha Lane Fox, a co founder of LastMinute.com.
