Starting School Free Resource: Colour, Shape and Pattern Activity Card
Patterns are arrangements of things that repeat in a logical way. Pattern awareness is an important early mathematical skill which can have a positive effect on later mathematical understanding. Colour and shape recognition enables the addition of another element to pattern work particularly in repeating patterns (red-blue-red-blue-red). A growing pattern gets bigger in the same way over and over again. Children need experience of both for a good understanding.
If you have a child starting prinmary school in September, this fun FREE activity will help with develpoing the following Key Skills: Shape recognition and matching.
