Stamptastic PTA Tips - How To Organise A Krispy Kreme Doughnut Sale

Posted on

Hold on to your hats! Because this is a whirlwind of a fundraiser...

If you are thinking about organising a Krispy Creme Sale then absolutely GO FOR IT! 🍩🍩🍩 It's a super easy way to raise funds for your school with very little effort and few complaints (I mean, who doesn't love a doughnut 😋?)

Krispy Kreme offer a special discounted price on their Original Glazed® doughnuts at £5.50 per dozen (45p each). If you sell for £1 a doughnut then you would be making a hefty profit of 55p each!!

£1 seems to be the normal price that PTAs sell the doughnuts for but you could charge less or more depending on how much profit you want to make and how much money you think people will pay without being totally outraged!

Step 1

Check that you have a Krispy Kreme store near you. This is because it's collection only, so there's absolutely no point in organising if you haven't got the wheels (and a couple of willing volunteers) to go and collect!

Step 2

Work out how many doughnuts you need. We have seen many PTAs under order and be sold out in 5 minutes so make sure you order enough! Our guide is as follows (please bear in mind this will vary depending on the socio economic demographics of your school community):

50 boxes of 12 (600) for a school of 550

35 boxes of 12 (420) for a school of 420

24 boxes of 12 (288) for a school of 250

12 boxes of 12 (144) for a school of 120

Step 3

Place your order online with Krispy Kreme, at least 10 days in advance of your event. The minimum number of doughnuts is 60 and the maximum is 600 per day per event.

Step 4

Krispy Kreme will confirm the order within 3 days and will take payment 4 days before your event.

Step 5

On the day of your event grab a volunteer or two and make the trip to Krispy Kreme to collect. Make sure you clear the boot in your car to fit all the doughnuts as they can take up quite a lot of space!

Step 6

Tell EVERYONE about the Krispy Kreme Sale in advance! Put it in the school newsletter, on your PTA Facebook page and laminated posters on the school gates. Make sure you put the price on the posters and state that there will be limited availability.

Step 7

Make sure you have enough float and enough volunteers to wo(man) the stall as it will be CRAZY! You may want to limit to one doughnut per person so as not to disappoint people but if you do that bear in mind you could end up with leftover doughnuts.

Step 8

Make sure you are aware of the allergy information and if necessary print a poster to display on your stall so that people with allergies can easily see.

Step 9

Watch the money roll in! Things to watch out for...there will always be a couple of parents who moan that a) the price is too high, b) they weren't notified of the sale (if you have taken all the steps in step 6 above then you are covered) and c) the doughnuts ran out too quickly. Be armed with a good reply..."we didn't know that we would sell out this quickly but next time we will order more, would you like to help us collect them/volunteer to be on the stall (delete as appropriate)", that normally shuts them down pretty quickly!

Good luck!!
