On Monday I braved the great British summer šØāļøš§to join TheĀ Small Business Charter for their Summer Reception at the House of Lords.
It was great to see so many business school faculty leaders and entrepreneurs together in one room and IĀ found the reception really interesting. Anne Kiem OBE (Executive Director, Small Business Charter and Chief Executive, Chartered Association of Business Schools) introduced me to some of the Deans and Heads of Business Schools of local Universities and some further afield. It was really interesting to hear from them about how they became accredited with The Small Business Charter and how they work with Small Businesses.
I have since been in contact with a couple of those local Universities and am looking forward to seeing how Stamptastic can get involved with them and help, mentor and work with students. After running a small business for 9 years we certainly have a lot of tips to share!
My particular thanks go to the host, Lord Young of Graffham, it's fast becoming a tradition to get a selfie with him and he is very obliging š
Also, special thanksĀ to Amazon for sponsoring this yearās gathering. Below is a video I took of Simon Donovan (Head Of Seller Services) sharing some insightful facts and figures regardingĀ UK Small Businesses and Amazon.
Thanks to Simon's very long arms we were able to get the perfect selfie š
Congratulations to Professor Karen Cox and Professor Martin Meyer from Kent Business School on receiving their accreditation with The Small Business Charter.
It was lovely to meet fellow Small Business owner, Louise from Daisy Chain (Daisy Chain is a free platform for parents to connect with family-friendly employers), we had briefly met previously at the Small Business Roundtable at The House of Commons last week. After chatting further we discovered that we live round the corner from each other and have already been discussing ways in which our businesses can work together.Ā
I was also fortunate to meet Alexis Powell-Howard whose business won The Best Small Business at The Small Awards last month (you may remember we won The Best Digital Business š)Ā
Ā The Amazon Campus ChallengeĀ was launched at this year's Reception. It isĀ a competition that offers studentsĀ the opportunity toĀ test and develop their business skills in a real-life environment.Ā
Thank you to The Small Business Charter for hosting such a lovely event.Ā
